Dr. Lena G. Caesar, EdD, PhD, CCC-SLP

Dr. Lena G. Caesar is a distinguished professor and the Graduate Programs Director in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at Loyola University Maryland. With a career spanning over two decades, she has dedicated her research and teaching to advancing the fields of speech-language pathology, audiology, and special education, particularly in bilingual and bidialectal language development and non-biased assessment for children with special needs.
Dr. Lena G. Caesar holds a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Health Studies from Western Michigan University, as well as an Ed.D. in Special Education Administration with a focus on Bilingual Special Education. She also earned an M.S. in Communication Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.S. in Communication Disorders with an English minor from Andrews University. Her extensive academic background underscores her expertise in speech-language pathology, public health, and special education.
Throughout her career, Dr. Lena G. Caesar has held multiple faculty and leadership positions at prestigious institutions, including Loyola University Maryland, Andrews University, and the University of Montemorelos in Mexico. She has served as an associate professor, department chair, program director, and adjunct faculty member in various educational and healthcare disciplines. Her professional appointments include teaching neuroscience in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and mentoring future educators in special education at Western Michigan University and Andrews University.
Dr. Lena G. Caesar focuses her research on culturally responsive assessments for children with diverse linguistic backgrounds, particularly bilingual (Spanish-English) and bidialectal populations, including African American English and Caribbean Creoles.
