Dr. Elvin S. Gabriel, EdD

Dr. Elvin S. Gabriel is a Professor Emeritus of Educational Psychology and Counseling with over four decades of experience in psychology, education, and counseling. He holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Counseling from The George Washington University, along with advanced degrees in Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, and Behavioral Sciences.


Dr. Gabriel has served in various leadership roles, including Chair and Dean of the Faculty of Education and Human Sciences at the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC) and Vice President for Academic Administration. He has also been a Registrar, Program Coordinator, and External Evaluator for teacher education programs across the Caribbean and the United States.


His vast teaching portfolio includes courses in Psychology of Learning, Theories of Personality, Educational Psychology, Multicultural Issues in Counseling, and History and Systems of Psychology. He has supervised numerous doctoral dissertations, mentored students, and contributed significantly to research in faith-based education, violence prevention, and culturally responsive teaching.


Dr. Gabriel’s impact extends beyond academia. As a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Counseling Association (ACA), he has worked extensively on psychological assessment, mental health interventions, and community counseling. His research and peer-reviewed publications focus on behavioral psychology, educational philosophy, and social justice in education.

With his wealth of experience, he equips educators with the knowledge to support students' cognitive, emotional, and social development, fostering inclusive and effective learning environments.
